Dr. Smith, since the inception of his surgical residency, has been involved with the treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Dr. Smith is trained and qualified in treating both benign and malignant lesions of the stomach, small intestine, colon, and rectum. Non malignant inflammatory disease of the intestinal tract such as Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease can thankfully often be managed successfully by medical treatment.
In those cases where surgical resection is indicated, Dr. Smith has extensive experience with these procedures. Malignancies (cancer) of the gastrointestinal tract remain much more prominent in our society than we would like. Fortunately, through the efforts of the American Cancer Society and early screening techniques the cure rate for gastrointestinal malignancies has improved dramatically. Again, Dr. Smith and his staff will be available to assist you in whatever means is necessary while you are under their care.
